TNT Wants More 'Leverage,' 'HawthoRNe'

Original series drawing in strong numbers for cable channel

Don't worry, Nate Ford. You won't have to steal yourself a third season because TNT is willing to give it to you.

The cable channel has renewed "Leverage" despite being just a few episodes into its second season thanks to a massive audience that has attracted 4.1 million viewers, according to trade publication Broadcasting & Cable. That's actually bigger than its first season, which already had broadcast network-like numbers for TNT.

At the same time, the cable channel gave a second season to "HawthoRNe." However, both "Raising the Bar" and "Dark Blue" are waiting to see if there will be more episodes coming down the channel for them.

"Leverage" is a modern-day A-Team-like series from producer Dean Devlin that stars Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Reisgraf and Aldis Hodge. The ensemble show premiered in December and was watched by 5.6 million people, the best numbers TNT ever received for adults 18 to 49.

The show's first season averaged 3.2 million viewers.

"HawthoRNe" was actually renewed Aug. 10 for 10 more episodes starring Jada Pinkett Smith. It hasn't received the most solid critical acclaim, but the show is averaging 3.8 million viewers.

"Leverage" airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on TNT.
