CBS Ratings Winning Streak Moves To Three

Schedule powered by 'NCIS,' 'CSI' and 'The Mentalist'

Viewers are liking what they see, and at least until Fox decides to roll out another edition of "American Idol," CBS continues to wear the weekly ratings crown.

CBS finished the week with a 7.2 rating/12 share average, based on non-event, non-news programming overnight ratings. It was powered by yet another strong week for "NCIS," which topped all shows with a 12.4/20, according to Fast National ratings from The Nielsen Co. That nearly matched the series' high from its second week of 12.5/20, and is well ahead of the pace set with its rather low-rated season premiere of 10.7/16 back on Sept. 22.

Also finishing strong for CBS were "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "CSI," both of which ended up in the top five for the week. "NCIS: L.A." earned a 9.6/15, just edging out the 9.5/15 earned by "CSI."

ABC wasn't too far behind, but finished a full ratings point out of first with a 6.1/10 average. That came despite having nearly half the shows in the week's top 10, thanks to four hours of programming -- "Eastwick," "Shark Tank" and two hours of "Ugly Betty" -- finishing below the 4.0 household rating mark. CBS, by comparison, had no shows finishing below 4.0, and in fact, chalked up its lowest ratings from "Gary Unmarried" and "Cold Case," both of which earned a 4.7/8.

After a couple weeks behind NBC, Fox returned to third place with a 4.7/7, mostly because its very low-rated Friday lineup was replaced by Major League Baseball playoffs. NBC chimed in with a 4.1/7, while The CW remained in last place with a 1.7/3.

The highest-rated show on Fox once again was "House," which earned a 7.5/11, and the network had two shows below a 4.0 household rating: "American Dad" on Sunday and "Fringe" on Thursday.

Fox finished with its highest rating since earning a 4.7/8 the week of Sept. 13.

For NBC, it's best outing came from "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," which earned a 5.9/9, followed by two installments of "The Biggest Loser."

More than half the network's programming finished below a 4.0 household, the best of that bunch coming from the series premiere of "30 Rock," which earned a 3.9/6. The network's worst performer was "Parks & Recreation," which barely lost out to Monday's broadcast of "The Jay Leno Show" with a 3.1/5.

Speaking of Leno, his show averaged a 3.5/6 in its fifth week, matching its ratings output from the beginning of the month. Of course, that was a far cry from the 7.4/13 average it earned its first week before quickly falling to a 4.0/7 the following week.
