CBS Orders More Episodes Of 'Accidentally On Purpose'
New comedy did well against Game 5 of the World Series
CBS likes what it sees in its new comedy "Accidentally On Purpose," and to reward it, has ordered five additional episodes of the series to bring its total order to 18.
Part of the decision, CBS said, was because of Monday's broadcast, which matched a series high in the key demographic of adults 18 to 34, and has been averaging 8.04 million viewers overall.
The series, starring Jenna Elfman, Ashley Jensen and Jon Foster, has averaged a 5.2 rating/8 share in Fast National overnights from The Nielsen Co. after six episodes. It's losing 5 percent of its lead-in from "How I Met Your Mother," and is actually CBS' lowest-rated show on Mondays, but that includes a grouping of some of CBS' best comedies including "Two and a Half Men" and "Big Bang Theory."
The episode Nov. 2 earned a 5.3/8, according to Zap2it, 2 percent better than its average, and just 7 percent off its series premiere. "Accidentally On Purpose" has an Audience Loyalty Index rating of 91.2, pretty solid for a new series.
And by the way, Monday's episode was up against Game 5 of the World Series on Fox, dropping only 3.6 percent from the week before.
So far this season, CBS is averaging a 7.1/11 on Mondays, second to the "Dancing With the Stars"-fueled ABC, which is hammering home an 11.3/17 average on Mondays, based on overnights.
Both networks are well above the 5.6/8 average of all the networks on Monday nights.
"Accidentally On Purpose" airs Mondays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS>
