Syfy Touts Record Audiences Since Summer Rebrand
Boost being led by shows like 'Warehouse 13,' 'Stargate: Universe'
It's not clear if it's really the rebranding, or if simply Syfy found a great mix of programming. But either way, Syfy is moving to the top of the cable ratings heap.
The network, formerly known as the SciFi Channel before buying the current "Syfy" moniker from Inside Blip's parent Quantum Global Media Inc., recorded its best November ever, an interesting feat considering in the past the cable channel has mostly avoided premiering too many big series in the fall when networks are airing new episodes.
However, shows like "Warehouse 13" and "Stargate: Universe" have been pushing a strong jump in numbers since July when SciFi Channel turned into Syfy.
Syfy was the fourth most-watched basic cable channel in key demographics, according to a release. That includes adults aged 25 to 54. It also was No. 5 in adults 18 to 49.
It wasn't just "Warehouse 13" and "Universe" getting all the glory. Also boosting that bottom line were shows like "Ghost Hunters," "Ghost Hunters Academy" and "Sanctuary."
