Jack Bauer: 24Movie Would Go Global

Kiefer Sutherland believes big screen movie will allow 24to do more

Twenty four hours, twenty four episodes; that is the normal run for the popular Fox series, 24. But if the show ever takes that leap onto the big screen fans should expect a very difference experience.

Firstly, according to series star Kiefer Sutherland, if 24 makes it to the big screen then the movie would take a more international setting by having Jack Bauer globetrotting in order to prevent the latest disaster. Specifically, Jack would be spending a lot of time in Europe.

"We've wanted to film all around Europe, he said. I think one of the great things about Europe, especially if you're going to do something where a two-hour film represents 24 hours, then it's very feasible to get from Eastern Europe to London in seven hours.

So does that mean that 24 would be abandoning the real time storytelling that has made it such a cult hit? It appears so : at least in part.

"It doesn't eat up all the time, he explained. Whereas if you're doing 24 episodes and you're trying to get, even from Miami to Washington, that's four episodes on a plane and people stop watching!"

There is no word yet on the future of the series after the eighth season wraps up, however there have been rumors circulating that indicate a movie based on the series could be in the works. Last season even saw a prologue straight-to-television movie as a way to hook viewers into the series before its return whilst also setting up vital elements.

24 returns to Fox on January 17.
