'Avatar,' 'Dexter' Celebrate Golden Globes Wins
Other shows like 'Lost,' 'True Blood' lose out
It might be the start of a busy award season for James Cameron and "Avatar."
Both were winners at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Golden Globes awards handed out on NBC Sunday night, winning for Best Motion Picture - Drama and Best Director - Motion Picture.
"Avatar" had some tough competition in the drama category, having to outlast the critically acclaimed "The Hurt Locker," "Inglourious Basterds," "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' By Sapphire" and "Up in the Air." Cameron himself didn't have it much easier, joining a group of nominees for Best Director that included Kathryn Bigelow for "The Hurt Locker," Clint Eastwood for "Invictus," Jason Reitman for "Up in the Air" and Quentin Tarantino for "Inglourious Basterds."
This is the second time Cameron has won a Golden Globe, his previous one coming in 1998 for "Titanic," where he also was nominated for Best Screenplay - Motion Picture.
