CW Interested In La Femme NikitaRemake?
Terminator Salvationdirector set to produce pilot
The CW has found critical success with his genre programming, with Smallville, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries being among its most notable titles, but now the network will be broadening its scope to include the action-drama.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The CW has commissioned a re-make of the popular U.S./Canadian television series, La Femme Nikita. The series, which was based on the French movie, launched in 1997 on the USA Network and ran for five seasons. Its first two seasons were also among the highest rated cable shows for those years.
This adaptation may see a few changes to the classic story, as Nikita goes rogue, eventually leading to a new assassin being recruited as a replacement.
However, a future for the series is far from secure. The CW has only ordered a pilot episode for the series which will be produced by McG, most recently known for directing the recent big-screen Terminator Salvation as well as executive producing Human Target. Should the pilot receive a warm reception, it is likely to go into production this summer for a fall, 2010 premiere.
