'Desperate Housewives' Fans Have Already Heard Of Barrowman
He's never been in the series, but fans should already know John Barrowman's new villain
From the Torchwood Hub to Wisteria Lane, actor John Barrowman will be trading-in his ambiguously dark alien hunter role for a character a little more down to earth ... and far more terrifying.
As previously reported, Barrowman has been cast in ABCs Desperate Housewives as this seasons villain. Fans of both Desperate Housewives and Barrowman himself are desperate to know who his new character will be and just what kind of problems he will be causing for the ladies of Wisteria Lane. Well, as it turns out, his character is one they may be aware of already.
Well, we've alluded in the show a couple times to [Patrick], a mysterious man in Angie's past, executive producer Bob Daily explained. She has sort of alluded that she's not just running from the law, but from a man from her past who is even scarier to her than the law. And that's John Barrowman. That's the character he's going to be playing. He's going to be showing up on Wisteria Lane and he'll be affecting not just Angie's life, but he'll be affecting the lives of some of the other women, as well, as the mystery speeds to its conclusion in the last four-five episodes.
And, part of Angie's back-story will be explored through an expected vacation, leading right into Barrowman's appearance.
"[Gaby] is going to get into it," Daily said. "We have an episode coming up, uh, where, lets just say, Gaby and Angie take an involuntary road trip together where Gaby gets a little more pieces of the puzzle and sort of get a better understanding of what Angie is going through. I think the audience, by the end of the episode, will know a little bit more about what's going on with the Bolen Family. That's happening in March, so yes Gaby is going to get drawn into this a little bit more."
American viewers should get used to seeing more of Barrowman on their screens as the actor is currently being lined up to start in a Fox-produced version of "Torchwood," the hit UK series that has extended from BBC's flagship science-fiction, "Doctor Who." Many have proposed that Barrowman's appearance in "Desperate Housewives" may act as the springboard for other projects, including the securing of an Americanized "Torchwood."
