'Glee' Gets Presidential Treatment
Cast of the musical 'dramedy' will perform at the White House
Critically acclaimed and already renewed for a second season, Fox's "Glee" has certainly developed a substantial following. And now it appears America's First Lady is among them.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Michelle Obama has invited the entire cast of the series to perform at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. And, as expected, they are more than up for the opportunity.
Apparently, Mrs. Obama and her daughters are huge fans of the series and their request is something that the show's producers simply could not ignore. The shooting schedules have been re-worked to accommodate the performance.
But, if you are hoping for your own chance to see New Directions live, there are already talks of a "Glee" tour in the works in which the cast will tour the United States for a series of concerts that will certainly entertain the nation. And, it may not be the end of what Fox have in store for the musical dramedy.
"We've had a tremendous amount of enthusiasm from our music partners," Fox Broadcasting president Kevin Reilly previously said. "Certainly if these kids become stars in their own right, who knows? Live appearances. Albums. There's lots of things that could happen."
There are already two full albums featuring music from the series available, the first of which has already hit the no. 1 slot in the UK album charts, deposing Lady Gaga.
