Rumors Rumors Rumors About Piers, 'Glee'
Will there be a 'Piers Morgan Live'? Will John Barrowman head to 'Glee'?
The Los Angeles Times Showtracker and others are reporting that Piers Morgan, current judge on "America's Got Talent" and "Britain's Got Talent," is the frontrunner to take over for Larry King if contract conflicts can be ironed out between NBC, which has locked Morgan into three more years on "Talent," and CNN.
While Morgan may seem like an unlikely choice, he spent years as a tabloid journalist and editor in England before his current talent judging and "Celebrity Apprentice" gigs. He also hosts a very successful show in Britain, "Piers Morgan's Life Stories," which features him interviewing celebrities, including Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne. Besides, how many people knew who Larry King was before CNN put him on the air 25 years ago?
Whether the network conflicts can be worked out remains to be seen. There are precedents, notably Anderson Cooper on CNN and on "60 Minutes" for CBS. However, hosting a talent show and a quasi-news program at the same time is a bit different.
In other possible future news, John Barrowman hops on the train of those wanting to be on Fox's "Glee."
The "Desperate Housewives" guest star reports that he's met with the "Glee" casting people and offered to play one of Rachel's two gay dads. And he could sing ... while many know him as Capt. Jack Harkness from "Torchwood," he's a noted musical theater performer in Britain.
