'Nikita' May Be Just What CW Is Looking For
Maggie Q is set to star in new action series with Lyndsy Fonseca
Another kick-ass female heroine arrives this Fall in "Nikita" in the tale of a renegade assassin striving to destroy those who created her
The worldwide premiere of "Nikita" was screened at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend. Having watched the first episode of this adrenaline-pumping series, many fans said it's practically guaranteed that this show will become a huge success for The CW.
Starring the uber sexy and stunning Maggie Q, "Nikita" focuses on the simultaneous stories of Nikita and a new recruit, Alex. Whereas Nikita managed to escape three years earlier and has been working to bring down the government branch which enslaved her, Alex has just been caught and is now venturing down the same path to being trained to be a government assassin on a leash.
But Nikita plans to stop it before it gets that far. It is her mission to destroy Division and rescue those similarly serving sentences of forced servitude. It must end.
During the Q&A portion of the panel after the screening, both Q and Lyndsy Fonseca expressed their gratitude at being selected for such cool, kick-ass roles. They each have been provided deeply complex and rich characters that they can slowly peel back the layers and each will reveal an even more intriguing aspect.
"I'm not the obvious choice," Q said. "And I'm excited they took a risk."
Episode 2 of the series will explore the entanglement of Nikita and Alex's destinies and there will be more gunfights, catfights and a little something for everyone, including a possible new love interest for Nikita. There also will be more revelations about her prior relationship with Michael (Shane West), who now hunts her at the instruction of Division who is very worried about their highly trained loose cannon roaming loose in the world and bearing a very nasty grudge.
"Nikita" will air on The CW this Fall.
