Creative Arts Emmy Winners Announced

Honors presented for technical and other special achievements, which included a Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series win for Neil Patrick Harris

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards presented more than 70 trophies at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Saturday.

The event is a catch-all night of technical and other special achievement honors that don't make it onto the Primetime Emmy Awards, which airs Aug. 29 on NBC.

Among the awards handed out are the guest acting awards, several reality show awards and trophies for such less glamorous categories as art direction and casting.

The big winner was Neil Patrick Harris. The actor picked up a Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series trophy for his guest turn on "Glee" and also won Special Class Program for hosting the 63rd annual Tony Awards. That Tony recognition was made possible by Los Angeles Times' "The Envelope" blog that contacted the Television Academy after realizing Harris was left off the nominee list.

Other guest actors included Ann Margaret for "Law & Order: SVU," John Lithgow for his arc on "Dexter" and the "it woman" of the moment, Betty White, for her hosting gig on "Saturday Night Live."

Best commercial went to the Old Spice "I'm on a horse" ad.

Best reality show (non competition) went this year to "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution," which is produced by Ryan Seacrest. Of course, this annoyed Kathy Griffin, who had previously won for her "Life on the D-List." Her less than printable comments are at her Twitter feed.

jeff Probst won reality show host for the third time for "Survivor," which surprisingly was not nominated in the reality show competition category.
