Full Season Orders Come For CBS' Entire Freshman Class

The top five new shows on television all will stick around at least until May

CBS has been quite pleased with the new shows it's debuted so far this season, and it has good reason to.

Ratings for shows like "Hawaii Five-0," "The Defenders," "Mike & Molly," "Blue Bloods" and "$#*! My Dad Says" have been the best of the new shows this year, and as a reward, each will have a chance to prove its worth over the long full-season haul.

CBS ordered full seasons on all five shows, crowding the field for an already strong network lineup that has helped the big eye win the first five official weeks of the 2010-11 season.

"Everything has clicked so far this year -- from development in January to scheduling in May, to production over the summer, to marketing and publicity in the fall," said Nina Tassler, the president of CBS Entertainment, in a release. "It's all testimony to the executives in our halls who remain restless for more success, and the amazing creative talent on our sets who continue to deliver the goods."

Although this past week, it was almost beat by "Mike & Molly" in the ratings, "Hawaii Five-0" remains the No. 1 new series of the season with a 7.5 rating/12 share average, according to Fast National ratings from The Nielsen Co. It's ahead of "Blue Bloods" (7.1/13), "Mike & Molly (7.1/10), "The Defenders" (6.5/12) and "$#*! My Dad Says (6.5/11), all which reside on CBS.

"Hawaii Five-0" remains a bit behind the 8.0/13 CBS averaged in the Monday at 10 p.m. timeslot last year, but is this season's top recorded program, which brings its total viewership to more than 17 million people each week.

"Blue Bloods," starring Tom Selleck, has been murdering competition, coming in as the network's highest-rated program on Fridays, and providing some of the best end-of-the-week numbers in years.

Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that include both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
