'The Walking Dead' Fires Writing Staff
Creator will rely on freelancers to carry the weight
AMCs The Walking Dead has shown that zombies can be done in the small screen, with the latest episode attracting a highly respectable 5.5 million viewers. A second season has already been commissioned, but now it looks like it will go ahead without any writers.
A statement from AMC cryptically confirmed that "there will be changes to the writing staff"; however, sources have apparently stated that the series wont be changing its writing team but will instead get rid of it altogether.
As entertaining as it sounds, that doesnt mean the second season will throw zombies into an abandoned city with a handful of survivors and then film the results. Instead, the second season will have no full-time writers, and the majority of new scripts will be submitted by freelance writers.
