Katy Perry To Guest On "How I Met Your Mother"
Hitmaker making her television acting debut
Following in the footsteps of other pop princesses Britney Spears and Carrie Underwood, singer Katy Perry is set for a guest appearance on CBS's hit comedy series, "How I Met Your Mother."
The Grammy-nominated performer will share an onscreen romance with Josh Radnor, who plays the series' lead character Ted Mosby. She will appear in an episode titled "Oh, Honey" as the naive cousin of Zoey (Jennifer Morrison), an former foe turned friend of Ted and the gang.
"Katy is a tremendous talent, and we are delighted to be able to work with her," said the show's co-creator Carter Bays.
Currently in its sixth season, "How I Met Your Mother" follows middle-aged Ted Mosby (voiced by Bob Saget of "Full House" fame) as he tells his teenage children the story of how he met their mother.
In addition to following the ups and downs of Ted's love life and career, it the series features Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan as Ted's college friends Marshall and Lily, Cobie Smulders as his ex-girlfriend and roommate Robin and Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson, the playboy helping him navigate the single life.
The series, according to many fans and critics, hit a creative slump last year but has recovered with storylines such as Marshall and Lily's attempts to conceive a child, and Robin's ongoing struggle to find her career niche.
Best known for a string of hit singles that includes "I Kissed a Girl," "Waking Up in Vegas" and "California Gurls," Perry is also providing the voice of Smurfette in the big-screen adaptation of the classic 1980s "Smurfs" cartoon and is rumored for a cameo appearance in next year's reboot of "The Muppets," which Segel co-wrote.
"How I Met Your Mother" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
