'Weeds' Actress Joins CBS Pilot
New comedy scoops up former Showtime star
Pilot season continues in full swing as potential series fill out their ranks. This week, actress Elizabeth Perkins has joined the CBS comedy pilot, "Vince Uncensored."
"Vince Uncensored" is a multi-camera comedy about a man who begins to live life without filters and restraints after facing a life-altering medical problem. Perkins will play his wife, a teacher, who must deal with his new-found desire to live honestly and 'in the moment.'
Perkins recently left Showtime's series, "Weeds," after an award-nominated role as Celia Hodes. She has enjoyed some success in both TV and movies, ranging from the 1980's classic comedy "Big," to the upcoming animated take on the Easter Bunny, "Hop."
Joining Perkins in "Vince Uncensored" as the title character is Michael Chiklis. Chiklis just nabbed the role earlier this month, although he is currently still on the air in ABC's "No Ordinary Family." 'Family' has been struggling in its freshman season and recently saw its order trimmed from 22 episodes to 20. And this week's penultimate episode has been banished to the Saturday TV wasteland.
After finishing work on what may have been the last episode of 'Family', both of its leads signed on contingently with other pilot projects. Chiklis' onscreen wife, Julie Benz, is signed with an untitled supernatural medical drama.
Late night favorite Conan O'Brien is producing "Vince Uncensored." It was created by Phoef Sutton, a former "Boston Legal" writer/producer whose last series was the quirky and quickly-dropped "Terriers."
