'Glee' Casts New Love Interest For Rachel?

And you thought Finn was unforgettable ...

The upcoming season of "Glee" will be the most interesting for the series yet, as it splits its time between New York and Ohio.

With two locations, and a lot of graduating seniors, that means it's time for "Glee" to pump up some of its casting. And not only will Chord Overstreet return as a series regular this season, but he will be joined by a couple new actors.

Dean Geyer, a South African-born singer and songwriter, joins the show to play Brody Weston, an upperclassman at the performance arts school in New York that Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) is attending. He shows an "interest" in Rachel, according to Deadline.com, but it's not clear if that is a romantic interest, or an interest in her singing talent.

And because one Puck is not enough, the show has cast a younger half-brother to the Jewish bad boy played by Mark Salling. Jacob Artist will take on the role of Jake Puckerman, who ends up trying out for the glee club -- but his attitude is far worse than his brother's, so it's not clear if he can even make the cut.

The series is obviously making some changes for the new season, including the dual-location split, but will also look to keep some familiar faces, including signing Overstreet as a regular.

"Glee" really needs to get a boost in the ratings this year, especially after losing nearly 34 percent of its audience last year. What was once a Top 30 show had suddenly fallen to No. 50, and barely nudged out "The Cleveland Show" as one of television's top losers from the year before.

Fox hopes "Glee" will get some help this year by pairing it with "The X-Factor" and "American Idol" once again, which could help it see an audience improvement going into its fourth season.

Also complicating the life of "Glee" is the fact that Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the creators of the show, are pulled between multiple projects. Their "American Horror Story" is getting all kinds of attention for FX, and there has already been a lot of buzz about their new comedy for NBC, "The New Normal," which features a gay couple trying to start a family with a surrogate mother.

Geyer most recently played Mark Reynolds in the one-season series "Terra Nova," and spent a year on the British soap "Neighbours."

Artist has appeared in the Nickelodeon show "Bucket and Skinner's Epic Adventures" as well as Nickelodeon's "How to Rock." He also appeared in the Lifetime television movie "Blue Lagoon: The Awakening" and ABC Family's "Melissa & Joey."

"Glee" returns Sept. 13 on Fox.
